Noob Saibot

Noob Saibot

Mortal Kombat

Formerly Sub-Zero, his death at the hands of Scorpion in the first Mortal Kombat tournament led to his resurrection as Noob Saibot under Shinnok's Brotherhood of Shadow. A cold and ruthless assassin, Noob uses shadow and phantom-centered powers in battle, including teleportation and the use of clones of himself.

Gameplay Tips

  • Noob's throws have great kill potential. If you have an enemy in proper range, a grab should be the one thing needed to finish them.
  • Noob's Up B's horizontal or vertical reach change depending on the direction held. When knee-deep in combat, one direction or another can make a crucial difference.
  • Noob's Down Air has him dive down when used. Take your surroundings into account, and use it wisely, lest you plummet towards a pitiful end.
  • Noob's Down Strong has a follow-up kick if you press attack after the sweep hits an enemy. Trip them up and send them to their doom.
  • Though both Noob's Side Special and Side EX (Grounded) involve sliding, they differ greatly. The former has Noob perform said action, whereas the latter involves a clone.
  • Noob's Prism Shatter is the Brutality finisher from MK Trilogy. Certain conditions, however, may lead to different outcomes.

Trivia

  • Noob Saibot's name is a reversal of the surnames of Ed Boon and John Tobias, the creators of Mortal Kombat.
  • Noob debuted early on in the MK franchise. However, his identity as the first Sub-Zero, Bi-Han, only first came to light in Mortal Kombat Deception, 11 years after MKII.
  • Noob is one of three MK characters to have their blood color changed in future titles, the other two being Smoke and Reptile.
  • According to Ed Boon, Noob is the ninja himself, whereas Saibot is his shadow clone. This is backed up by the names of the moves his clone performs, preceded by Saibot.
  • In MKII, Noob was a secret battle that can be triggered 50 wins in a row. 5 Noob battles in a row gets you a game of Pong!
