System Mechanics
The following is a list of mechanics that separates Prism Cross from the stock standard platform fighter. Read on!
- Every character in the game has a universal meter called the Prism Gauge, which builds up overtime by attacking or getting attacked. This gauge can reach a max of 6 charges, and can be consumed in order to perform several new actions. The ways in which you consume them are listed as follows:
- A third attack button has been implemented, called the "EX Button". While in platform fighters like Smash your main two inputs for attacking are A and B (Attack and Special), in Prism Cross, you have what you can consider a "C" button, called the EX button. When you have two charges of gauge or more, you can use this button + a direction in order to perform one of your character's EX moves, which are brand new techniques that are more powerful than the usual special moves.
- Brand new mechanics are in, such as Prism Cancelling (similar to RC from other fighting games, allowing otherwise impossible combos to be possible) and Bursting (an emergency "get-off-me" technique), all of which leverage the Prism Gauge's charge in order to be activated.
