Faust

Faust

Guilty Gear: The Missing Link

Formerly a highly skilled and well-regarded surgeon, the death of one of his patients during an operation drove him mad with misery and regret. In his insanity, he became a serial killer, seeing his victims as his patients. The relieved cries of the people at the end of the Holy Order tournament awakened a memory of the fateful day, causing him to flee into the night in anguish. Regaining his humanity, the mad doctor planned to end his own life, but soon discovered that an external party was at fault. Thus, Dr. Baldhead went on to abandon his identity, seek out the truth behind the incident, and save as many lives as he can under the name of Faust.

Gameplay Tips

  • Test your luck via Faust's Down Special and Down EX, through which he uses one or four of many items from his...uh...sleeves? Pockets? Where does he get those from?!
  • Faust's Neutral Special drags in opponents by holding down the Attack button. Worry not about the EX version's follow-up, however. It's on the house!
  • Keep a steady grip on your opponents' guesswork through Faust's ground Up Special. Different directions means different positions and different outcomes!
  • Faust's Up Special (Air) and Up EX, Doctor Copter, allows for free movement through the air, and is also guaranteed to hit nearby opponents.
  • Faust's Forward Air has a sweetspot around the tip of the scalpel as its fully thrusted out. For some, this move might do more than just sting...

Trivia

  • Though it's never directly confirmed, the Guilty Gear franchise hints all too well at Faust being Dr.Baldhead, in an effort to atone for his past sins.
  • Faust's Taunt could be argued to be a reference to the Face Flash technique seen in the Kinnikuman series.
  • Faust's name is considered to be based on the protagonist of a classic German legend with the same name, who sold his soul to the devil for knowledge and power.
