JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run


A skilled physician and former executioner. He enters the Steel Ball Run race to win the prize money and fund his medical research. He hails from the Kingdom of Naples and carries a family legacy tied to the mystical Spin technique. Gyro forms an uneasy alliance with Johnny Joestar, a paraplegic jockey, as they navigate the treacherous competition.

Gameplay Tips

  • While holding the special button during Gyro's upTilt, you can throw a steel ball upwards.
  • Be sure to look at the hud to see how many steel balls you have left, they aren't infinite!
  • By combining Gyro's sideB with sideEX you are able to cover all of opponent's options.
  • You can act before dSmash animation ends, giving you plenty of opportunities for a follow up.
  • Gyro's sTilt hits twice and is good at chipping away opponent's shield.
  • Make use of your steel balls when your opponent is far off-stage to annoy them. Is it moral? No, but why do you care?
  • During Gyro's Prism Shatter, you can control the direction of the throw. Make sure the ball hits the enemy!

  • The name of Gyro's horse is Valkyrie.
  • The Spin is Zeppeli family's signature technique, mostly performed by using special Steel Balls.
  • One of the things Gyro is most fond of is his teddy bear, so much in fact, that he brought him along for a harsh Steel Ball Run.
  • Steel Ball Run originally didn't have JoJo's name in it, that's because the editorial staff wanted to attract readers to a "new series".
  • In one interview Hirohiko Araki stated that he wrote Steel Ball Run as the next part of JoJo from the start.
